Mega Dream ex: the new Pokémon High Class Pack arrives on November 28, 2025 in Japan

The new Japanese series Mega Dream ex has just been officially revealed by The Pokémon Company and will be released on November 28, 2025 in Japan.

This is the High Class Pack 2025 , a highly anticipated annual premium set, in the vein of cult series like VSTAR Universe , Shiny Treasure ex or Terrastal Festival .

With the explosive return of Mega Evolutions since Mega Brave , Mega Symphonia , and Inferno X , this new set is the logical continuation of the “Mega” block launched in 2025… and it is already shaping up to be a must-have.

The set contains 193 cards in the main set, and each booster pack will contain 10 cards (instead of the usual 5) with a guaranteed Pokémon ex.

Fans will also find dozens of secret rare items , reverse holo energy/Poké-Ball style items, and never-before-seen illustrations.

Mega Dragonite ex stars in the set

The star Pokémon of Mega Dream ex will be Mega-Dragonite ex , visible on the main artwork of the display and booster packs.

A logical choice after Mega-Lucario (M1L) , Mega-Gardevoir (M1S) and Mega-Charizard X (Inferno X) : the license clearly continues the massive return of Mega Evolutions in the Pokémon TCG.

First secret cards revealed: Mega Gengar SAR & Marnie ex

Four new secret cards have just been revealed , including a first-ever Special Illustration Rare of Mega Gengar ex and Marnie's Ang oliath ex .

Until now, Mega Gengar had not had an SAR version, as it had only been released in a deck — so this will be its first real “chase” card illustrated in this premium rarity.

New rarity: "Mega Attack" (MA)

As announced in August, MEGA Dream ex will introduce a brand new rarity: the “Mega Attack” (MA) .

Their distinctive feature? A style inspired by comics , with the name of the attack integrated directly into the illustration in a “BAM!” or “POW!” style, like in a comic book.

A brief reminder of the unique features of these cards:

On Japanese maps, the name of the attack will be written in English.

On English maps, it will be written in Japanese.

New rarity in Japan: Foil Energies finally arrive in the Japanese TCG

A major new feature in Mega Dream ex : for the first time, the Japanese Pokémon introduces Energy cards in holo/foil version , a concept previously exclusive to Chinese Pokémon cards.

Until now, reverse holo energies and special Master Ball Foil- style designs only existed in Pokémon Chinese TCG , which has often been ahead aesthetically.

With Mega Dream ex, Japan is finally catching up with this modernization, by offering:

✅ Energy cards in reverse foil

✅ An exclusive design inspired by Poké Balls (like on Shiny Treasure ex)

✅ A premium finish that complements the other rarities in the set (SAR, Gold, MA…)

This confirms a trend that has been visible since 2024: the Japanese market is gradually taking inspiration from the style and success of Chinese cards , whose popularity continues to grow — particularly among European collectors.

📌 Result: these Japanese foil energies are likely to be highly sought after upon release, as they inaugurate a new category of cards in the Japanese TCG.

More cards revealed… and this is just the beginning

The Japanese series MEGA Dream ex will introduce brand new Trainer Pokémon that were not present in Journey Together or Destined Rivals !

Among them, we will notably find N's Zekrom , which will complement N's Reshiram released in Journey Together .

This Zekrom will appear in both a standard version and a Rare Illustration version in the expansion.

It remains to be seen how many other new Trainer Pokémon will be introduced to the series.

In addition to Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Gengar SAR and the new “Mega Attack” cards, several other cards are already starting to appear via official visuals and Japanese leaks.

It has been revealed that Team Rocket's Pokémon will have a reverse holo "R" in this series.

As with every High Class Pack , the revelations will intensify as the release approaches.
